Intensive training course conducted by experienced safe driving trainers

Bangkok, 21 August 2015 – MG Sales (Thailand), distributor of MG cars and a leading automotive brand from UK, today opened the “MG Driving Experience Centre” to heighten customers’ experience with the MG brand, ensure customers’ confidence in the MG car and its European-standard safety features whilst promoting safe driving in Thailand.

Mr. Wu Huan, President, SAIC Motor-CP Co., Ltd., said, “MG Driving Experience Centre is a testament to our commitment to offer the best possible experience to all MG customers. It also reinforces our intention to promote road safety. The centre will give MG customers and interested persons the opportunity to have a hands-on experience with MG cars and technology, which, we believe, is the best way to secure customers’ understanding and deliver a fun-to-drive experience. Realising this, MG has invested more than 10 million baht in developing the MG Driving Experience Centre and open opportunities for our customers and general public to have an intensive driver’s training/workshop. After this comprehensive training, customers will have the ability to safely control and use their MG cars under all driving conditions. This is important in reducing road accidents. We hope this centre will transfer its knowledge to 2,000 interested persons, students and MG customers within one year.”

The MG Driving Experience Centre is located behind Season Square shopping centre, covering a total area of 17,500 square metres. The facility comprises the office building and a test drive proving ground. The office features a reception area and a meeting room. The huge test drive ground was designed by Tim Wright, Technical Leader, Advanced Engineering from MG UK, and allows customers the full opportunity to test and try key functions in MG products.

The intensive safe driving workshop offers an opportunity for customers to sit behind the wheel and try to control the MG car in different situations. MG’s highly skilled trainers will take customers through various training points, allowing customers to learn how to use the brake effectively, test low-speed slalom and high-speed slalom maneuvers, high-speed turns, double-lane change to avoid obstacles, ability to control ABS and short-distance braking at 60-80 kph which is the speed that most accidents occur. At the end of the training session, participants will receive a certificate from the MG Driving Experience Centre.

The instructors at the MG Driving Experience Centre comprise of a highly experienced team led by Varis Jarukiatpongsa.

Pongsak Lertrudeewattanavong, Vice President, MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said “Safe driving is very important. Road accidents are ranked second behind cancer as the cause of death among the Thai population for years and have caused huge losses. Road safety campaigns should be highlighted throughout the year rather than introducing it during long weekends and holiday festivals only. Safety must be practiced all the time. By having a pool of experienced safe-driving instructors at the MG Driving Experience Centre, offering intensive training courses that promote effective car control and safe driving techniques – MG is nurturing a new generation of responsible drivers with promoting good car handling skills. MG is committed to protect human life and assets in Thai society.”

The MG Driving Experience Centre opens from Monday to Friday from 8.00-17.00 hrs. For more information, please contact Khun Khawanchanok Sirisanyalak at 095-368-8600.
