MG Builds New Manufacturing Plant
Making Thailand the Hub of the Region

SAIC Motor - CP Co., Ltd. and MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., recently held a ceremony to mark the beginning of production at its new plant in Chon Buri province. In accordance with MG’s commitment to growth in Thailand, and to further elevate the automotive industry and the Thai economy, this plant will be the hub for MG cars in Southeast Asia, as the company manufactures and distributes MG cars in Thailand and exports them globally.

“MG has been established and operating in Thailand for more than 3 years now and we aim to focus on the highest standard in the car production process in the Thai market. This new manufacturing plant uses the most advanced technology to offer the highest quality and at the same time will help the Thai economy to grow even stronger” said Mr. Shi Guoyong, President of SAIC Motor - CP Co., Ltd.

At the launch ceremony, both the Senior Management team of SAIC Motor – CP Co., Ltd. and MG, along with more than 200 MG employees, came together to mark the beginning of production of this new MG plant and witness the special Buddhist prosperity ceremony that was held as a part of the opening.

“Since 2013, CP Co., Ltd. and SAIC Motor have been continuously committed to this joint venture of MG production. We have already proven ourselves to be strongly acknowledged among customers as our sales continue to increase. I’m confident with adding to our production capabilities, and to making us better prepared to serve the automotive market throughout Southeast Asia which is growing very rapidly. Our new manufacturing production plant demonstrates are definite commitment to Thailand while further building the image of Thailand’s economic strength, and its lead in the Asian automotive industry”, said Mr. Thanakorn Seriburi, Chairman of Board of Directors SAIC Motor - CP Co., Ltd.

In addition to using the latest technology for the best in quality and design, MG has specific ergonomics systems installed for the most efficient work environment for its employees. Once the construction of this new MG plant is fully complete, it will become MG’s Southeast Asia manufacturing hub of right hand drive vehicles for both domestic and the ASEAN region distribution.

This new MG plant, built on 437.5 rai (70 hectares or 173 acres) of land in the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 2 in the Chon Buri district, has replaced the old production plant that had begun its production line in 2014 and which was also located in the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate.
